Slava Ukraini! In an effort to support Ukraine’s independent artisans and small shops, I have brought in a variety of Ukranian handicrafts directly from Ukraine. These delicate pysanky chicken eggs are each one of a kind, and are appropriate for year-round decorating and gift-giving. Pysanky are raw chicken eggs, blown out, and decorated using and ancient wax-resist method. 2.5” x 2”

One of the origin legends of Ukrainian pysanky tells the story of a monster, the personification of evil, in the Carpathian mountains; in that story, the more pysanky people make, the tighter the chains are wrapped around the monster, keeping it at bay so it doesn’t destroy the world.
