Slava Ukraini! In an effort to support Ukraine’s independent artisans and small shops, I have brought in a variety of hand-made craft directly from Ukraine. Olga Otnyakina-Berdnyk works in Cherkasy, Ukraine. She has worked in clay for over 20 years making penny-whistles for children, based on Ukrainian folk-lore, but more often than not, these are collected as interior sculpture for adults.
Winter Deer and Snow Chicken is rendered in blues, white and yellow. It features two whistles, one on the deer tail and one on the tail of the bird. Make no mistake: this is not a child’s toy!
