Ukrainian Oil Painting: Friends
Slava Ukraini! In an effort to support Ukraine’s independent artisans and small shops, I have brought in a variety of hand-made craft directly from Ukraine. Lena Vylusk was born in the Donetsk region, and her oil paintings put characters, mostly animal, in unusual environments so the viewer can see their story in her work. Her pieces combine realism with the surreal. She wrote to me that the inspiration for this piece was watching her son playing with a friend in their basement while hiding from an air raid warning. The adults in the room didn’t want to interrupt the children’s play. Original and one of a kind oil painting on canvas with silver-painted edges.
