This is a new glaze treatment for me: painting the leaf impressions with sapphire blue, then glazing the whole in cornflower blue. This rotund urn is impressed with peony leaves, accented with church-key patterns at the base, rim and lid—treated with a red iron oxide wash, and trimmed in black. As a bonus, there’s a little bird perched on the knob. Remember, someday you might want to rest in a beautiful piece.
